ICFE Istanbul 2027 Exhibition Stand Guide
ICFE Istanbul 2027, the International Carpet and Flooring Expo, will take place from 6–9 January 2027 at Istanbul Expo Center (IFM) in Yeşilköy, Istanbul.
The exhibition brings together manufacturers, exporters, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, architects, interior designers and buyers from the carpet and flooring industries. Its product scope includes handmade and machine-made carpets, rugs, mats, textile floor coverings, laminate, wood, parquet, artificial grass, fibres, yarns, textile machinery and flooring technologies.
For exhibitors, a successful stand at ICFE must do more than provide space for displaying a large collection. It should help buyers understand product categories quickly, examine materials comfortably and identify the right products without navigating a visually crowded environment.
Planning early is especially important for companies exhibiting extensive collections, large-format rugs, flooring systems or machinery requiring technical integration.
Why ICFE Istanbul matters
ICFE is positioned as an international business platform for the carpet and flooring sector. Türkiye’s strong manufacturing and export base gives the exhibition particular relevance for companies seeking distributors, importers, retailers, architects and commercial buyers across Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and other international markets.
The official results for the 2026 edition reported:
445 exhibitors
More than 31,000 visitors
21 exhibitor countries
Visitors from 127 countries
These figures refer to the previous edition and demonstrate the international reach of the event rather than representing a forecast for 2027.
The fair’s visitor profile includes wholesalers, distributors, chain stores, importers and exporters, furniture retailers, flooring companies, architects, interior designers, decorators and producers. This creates opportunities for exhibitors to meet both volume buyers and professionals influencing product specification.
The commercial challenge is that buyers may encounter hundreds of collections during their visit. A stand therefore needs a clear visual structure that helps visitors recognise product families, compare options and begin relevant discussions quickly.
Stand design priorities for carpet and flooring exhibitors
Create a clear collection hierarchy
Large collections can easily make a stand feel like a warehouse or showroom without direction. Products should be organised into understandable families, such as handmade rugs, machine-made collections, contract flooring, residential flooring, premium products or newly launched designs.
The main collection or strategic product should receive the strongest aisle visibility. Secondary ranges can then be arranged through display walls, sample libraries, sliding racks or consultation zones.
This hierarchy allows buyers to understand what the company offers before entering the stand.
Let products remain the visual focus
Carpets, rugs and flooring materials already contain colour, texture and pattern. Stand architecture should frame those qualities instead of competing with them.
Neutral architectural surfaces can support colourful collections, while carefully selected timber, metal or textured details can reinforce the intended market position. Decorative elements should have a clear role in guiding visitors, defining meeting areas or supporting the brand story.
Design for different viewing distances
A large rug needs to be read from across the aisle and examined closely. Flooring samples require a different interaction: buyers may need to compare surfaces, finishes, edge details, thicknesses and installation systems.
A strong layout should combine:
Large vertical displays visible from the aisle
Accessible sample racks for close inspection
Horizontal tables for comparing materials
Installed floor sections showing the product in context
Clearly separated technical and decorative collections
Treat lighting as part of the product presentation
Poor lighting can alter colour perception and flatten surface texture. This is particularly damaging for carpets, natural fibres, timber and decorative flooring.
Lighting should reveal pile depth, weaving, colour variation and material finish without creating distracting glare. The stand contractor should review the position of display walls, suspended products and sample tables before finalising the lighting layout.
Plan storage from the beginning
Sample collections, catalogues, packaging, personal belongings and hospitality supplies require more storage than many exhibitors initially expect.
Concealed storage should be integrated into counters, meeting areas and display walls. Back-of-house storage may also be necessary for replacement samples, cleaning equipment and products that should not remain visible throughout the fair.
Presenting carpets, rugs and flooring products effectively
Carpet displays should balance capacity with accessibility. Hanging too many rugs on one wall may increase the number of products shown but reduce the impact of individual designs.
A curated front-facing display can introduce the collection, while sliding panels, rotating racks or organised sample books provide access to a wider range. Premium or handcrafted pieces often benefit from more space, controlled lighting and a quieter presentation.
For flooring manufacturers, the floor itself can become part of the exhibit. Installed zones can demonstrate parquet patterns, transitions, flexible coverings or commercial flooring systems at realistic scale. Wall-mounted sample panels can then present additional finishes without occupying excessive floor area.
Technical flooring systems may require cutaway details showing installation layers, backing materials, acoustic performance or connection methods. Screens can support this information with installation videos, project applications or manufacturing processes, but they should not replace physical product interaction.
Exhibitors presenting textile machinery or cleaning and application technologies need to provide the contractor with equipment dimensions, weight, power requirements and operating needs. Demo areas should allow visitors to observe the equipment without blocking the aisle or interfering with nearby meetings.
Meetings, hospitality and visitor flow
ICFE attracts different types of conversations. Some visitors need a quick catalogue and contact exchange; others may want to review collections, negotiate distribution terms or discuss large purchasing programmes.
The stand should therefore support more than one meeting format:
Open tables for short discussions
A consultation counter for sample review
Semi-private seating for commercial negotiations
A private room when confidentiality is important
A compact hospitality point positioned away from product displays
Visitor movement should remain intuitive. The reception point should welcome visitors without forming a barrier across the entrance, while meeting furniture should not interrupt access to major displays.
For larger stands, product discovery and commercial discussions can be arranged as a journey: introduction from the aisle, collection overview, detailed sample review and then a meeting area.
What to send your stand contractor
A reliable design and quotation depend on a complete brief. Exhibitors should provide:
Hall plan and stand location
Confirmed stand dimensions
Stand type and number of open sides
Organizer’s maximum permitted height
Brand manual, logos and graphic files
Product categories and priority collections
Rug, carpet and sample dimensions
Display quantities and preferred presentation methods
Machinery dimensions, weights and power requirements
Lighting and audiovisual requirements
Meeting and hospitality requirements
Storage requirements
Furniture preferences
Previous stand photographs
Preferred architectural style
Organizer’s latest technical and exhibitor manual
Available budget range, where possible
Product information should be provided early. A stand designed before the final display quantity is known may require major revisions when large rugs, sample systems or machinery are introduced later.
Why turnkey local execution matters in Istanbul
International exhibitors often coordinate their participation across different suppliers: a design agency, local fabricator, freight company, graphic producer, venue-service provider and installation team. Without clear responsibility, technical information can be lost between these parties.
A turnkey local contractor can coordinate design development, production, graphics, transport, installation, venue communication, on-site adjustments and dismantling through one project workflow.
Local production also makes it easier to inspect finishes, adjust dimensions and respond to late changes before installation. During build-up, an Istanbul-based team can coordinate directly with the venue and resolve practical issues without relying entirely on remote communication.
This is particularly important for displays involving suspended carpets, custom sample racks, integrated flooring zones, lighting, audiovisual equipment or technical machinery.

Recommended planning timeline for ICFE 2027
With ICFE opening in January, exhibitors should avoid leaving design and production decisions until the final weeks of the year.
Three to four months before the exhibition
Confirm the stand location, dimensions, objectives, priority products and approximate budget. Begin concept development and determine how each collection should be displayed.
Eight to twelve weeks before
Approve the architectural direction, materials, product displays, meeting layout and lighting concept. Finalise the contractor appointment and provide accurate product dimensions.
Four to eight weeks before
Complete technical drawings, graphics, electrical planning and venue submissions. Confirm any machinery, audiovisual systems, suspended elements and special services.
Final three to four weeks
Release approved graphics, complete production, confirm transport arrangements and review the installation schedule. Prepare the final product list and identify who will make decisions during build-up.
Late decisions can reduce material choices and leave less time to test custom display systems. Early product planning is especially valuable when a stand contains many different rug sizes or flooring formats.
Istanbul Expo Center and organizer considerations
ICFE 2027 will be held at Istanbul Expo Center in Yeşilköy. The official event information provides access to the current hall plan, exhibitor services and venue guidance.
The organizer states that setup, dismantling, occupational safety and other technical information are provided through the participant handbook available in the MyTüyap Exhibitor Portal. Exhibitors and contractors should review the latest edition before finalising the design.
Items requiring confirmation may include:
Permitted stand height
Technical approval deadlines
Build-up and dismantling periods
Fire-safety documentation
Raised-floor requirements
Electrical orders and connection points
Rigging or suspended-product permissions
Floor-loading limits
Vehicle and loading access
On-site storage restrictions
These requirements should not be assumed from previous exhibitions. The current organizer handbook and project-specific venue approvals should remain the controlling references.
What makes a strong stand at ICFE?
A strong ICFE stand makes an extensive collection feel understandable and commercially focused.
From the aisle, visitors should be able to identify the brand, main product category and featured collection. Once inside, they should be able to examine texture, colour and construction without removing products from unstable displays or disrupting other meetings.
Effective stands usually combine a few carefully designed presentation methods instead of repeating one system throughout the space. A large feature rug can create visibility, sample racks can provide collection depth, installed flooring zones can demonstrate real application and a consultation table can support comparison and specification.
The design should also reflect the exhibitor’s market position. A handmade carpet producer may require a warmer, more curated atmosphere, while a technical flooring or machinery company may benefit from a structured architectural language supported by demonstration areas and technical information.
The objective is not simply to display the maximum number of products. It is to help the right visitor find the right collection and move naturally into a useful commercial conversation.
